LR Question 7 Explanation

QUESTION TEXT: Medical doctor: Sleep deprivation is the cause of…

QUESTION TYPE: Strengthen

CONCLUSION: We should change work days to be more flexible.

REASONING: Sleep deprivation causes a lot of problems.

ANALYSIS: Most of the wrong answer choices talk about the amount of hours worked. But the doctor didn’t mention that. They proposed working the same number of hours, but flexibly.

___________

  1. Overwork is the amount of work. The doctor didn’t recommend changing the amount. He recommended changing when we work. But we could still work long hours, flexibly.
  2. CORRECT. This shows a connection between flexible hours and sleeping more. The argument didn’t make that connection.
  3. So? This doesn’t help us prove that people would sleep more with flexible hours.
  4. The doctor wasn’t talking about the number of hours in the workweek. They were talking about when we work those hours. E.g. 9-5 vs. working 10-2 along with 4-8. Both options total 8 hours.
  5. Show me where the doctor mentioned the length of the workday.
