LR Question 8 Explanation

QUESTION TEXT: Dr. Carabella uses which one of the…

QUESTION TYPE: Method of Reasoning

ARGUMENTS: Dr. Jones thinks that telecare will help rural patients, at least. Specialists in urban centers can examine them from a great distance.

Dr. Carabella thinks that telemedicine will eventually cause doctors to leave rural areas since examinations will no longer have to be done in person. Even urban care will eventually be affected.

ANALYSIS: Carabella goes further then Jones and asks him to consider what the world would look like if people really used Telecare to its full extent.

___________

  1. No. This would be, for example, if a doctor proved that a weight loss drug was really just eliminating muscle and not fat.
  2. CORRECT. Carabella agrees with Jones that the early stages will help. But then they describe the future consequences that will occur if Telecare is adopted.
  3. Carabella didn’t do that. They disagreed with Jones, respectfully.
  4. This sounds tempting, but statistics describe the present or the past. We have no statistics for the future: we don’t know what the future will be like.
  5. What term would that be? Don’t pick this type of answer choice unless you can pinpoint where Carabella says that Jones misused a word.
